Every time I ask God for directions,
I ask him, “what’s next?!”
What is the next thing I should do?!
Who is the next person I should meet?!
Where should I place my foot next?!
Next, next, next.
That’s all I seem to be keen on,
The next thing.
And in all my search for the “Next Right Thing”,
I have quite completely forgotten the “Right Now”!!
Oh My!!!
What have I been doing all along?!
Knowing the next step is well and good,
But at what cost?
Is looking out for tomorrow, worth losing today?!
Father in Heaven,
Unbound by timelines,
Show me Lord, what am I to do today?!
And for every other today, after this one.
This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.
