Standing down in Peace

Contentment doesn’t come easy, No, no, no, no. It comes after you have been banging on every door in sight and none of it opens up, It comes when you have prayed and prayed and prayed and exhausted yourself, It comes when the darkness seems to have permanently taken residence in your life, When the waiting season turns from months to years and goes on and on.

Yes! That’s when contentment comes, When you realise that God is sitting in the hallway with you, When your worship is not about presenting your worldly needs to God but rather to edify your soul, When the darkness that terrified you doesn’t scare you no more, When the fear of the future becomes an after thought, Contentment comes when you lose everything you could possibly lose – hope, sense of direction in life, the need to be loved.

When the world has lost its grip on you, And you don't care about what the world thinks anymore. Contentment comes from Christ, When you have nothing to hold on to, but Christ alone! And when you understand in the depth of your heart and the recesses of your mind that Christ is all you need and more than enough for the rest of your existence. That…. that is contentment!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 NIV
