Hold light
Lord, teach me to hold light
To my dreams and delights,
And hold on tight
To you instead.
Hold light,
For the Cross will clash with your pride,
And it’s easy to let go,
When you hold on to it light.
What are you holding onto today?!
The comforts or the coziness?
The Pride or the pretense?
The rights or the rituals?
Or do you hold tight,
To the things that you think you deserve?
Whatever it maybe,
I pray that you hold light,
For when the Cross demands a price,
It’s gonna cost you much.
I beg of you,
My fellow christian,
For the sake of your soul,
Hold light, the things of the world.
Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.
