It takes courage, To sit quietly with my thoughts, To be okay with the mess that I might find inside my head. To accept myself for all that I am, The scars, the fears and the issues that still need tissues sometimes.
No listening to songs, No watching videos online, No reading make-believe happy endings, None of that, to numb away what I really feel, For it takes courage to sit quietly with my thoughts.
And You always show up, My dear Father in heaven, In those quiet moments, Sitting with me in the silence, Untangling my weary thoughts with me.
You do not prod nor pry, You neither hurry nor delay. Somehow You always know, Exactly what to say, And what I need to hear.
You tell me that I am brave – To be honest with myself, To face the war within, To bring down those walls I had built, And makeup my weary mind.
And through it all, You hold my trembling hands, And wipe away my many tears. Oh, to have known the Love of the Father, What a blessed life indeed!
He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. He will bring justice to all who have been wronged.
