Acknowledge my hurt
Acknowledge my hurt,
That’s all I ask.
Don’t come at me with more knives,
I have enough of those scars already,
Don’t come at me with accusations,
I have taken care of that myself.
Don’t condemn my stupid decisions,
Don’t spew contempt on my weaknesses,
Don’t ask me if I have any common sense left
I know it was my own fault.
Acknowledge my hurt,
That’s all I ask.
I didn’t state my hurt,
In need of your fixing,
Nor your 10-better-ways-you-could-have-handled-that speech,
Acknowledge my hurt,
That’s all I ask.
Blessed is the one,
Who has a friend that keeps their mouth shut and ears open,
When all that is needed is safe silence to soothe the soul.
And after all the hurt has been poured out and the heart still bleeding,
There’s only one thing I ask you to say,
“I know it hurts, and I am here for you”.
Proverbs 11:12 NIV
Whoever derides their neighbor has no sense, but the one who has understanding holds their tongue.
