Abounding Grace

Grace is not a free pass to miss the mark.

I have been the recipient of so much grace,

There have been times when I felt guilty for availing the Grace of God.

I know I needed it,

Cause, I obviously won’t survive the wrath of God coming my way for all the crimson stains I have created.

But I would also feel extremely guilty to use God’s grace, it felt like I was taking advantage of God himself.

It felt bad. Real bad.

The concept and explanation of grace has been thrown around so much, that before we actually taste grace, we seem to know all about it. Thus entirely missing out on the whole point of grace itself.

Grace.

What does this word remind you of!?

All the times you failed!?

All the times you were forgiven!?

Or maybe it reminds you of second chances.

Or all the times you made puppy dog eyes at God and escaped!?.

Whatever it reminds you of.

Knowing about grace is not the same as experiencing grace first-hand.

I, for one, have been drenched in grace,

Soaked to the bone in it,

So much so that… If they did a blood test for me, they might find a little bit of grace in that too. Exaggeration… I know… But that’s how much real grace is to me.

During my first encounters with Grace,

I used to associate it with Guilt.

Rookie mistake.

Now Guilt, on the other hand, can eat you alive and bury you in the bottom of the ocean.

Grace is not.. “You-sinned-but-its-okay”..

Grace is strength that is not your own,

Grace is forgiveness when your hurt is still raw,

Grace is giving love, when you haven’t received any.

Grace is letting Jesus live through you.

I know I am not utterly capable of doing the right thing, but it’s the Grace of God that gives me strength, one choice at a time.

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

2 Corinthians 9:8 NKJV
